Beijing Children's Hospital, Capital Medical University is a comprehensive 3A pediatric hospital that combines medical care, research, teaching, and health care. Its predecessor is Beiping Private Children's Hospital established in 1942 by Zhu Futang, Wu Ruiping, Deng Jinxian. The hospital receives an average of 3 million outpatients, over 80,000 inpatients and performs more than 34,000 operations per year.

The hospital operates three branches: the Xicheng Branch, Shunyi Branch, and Yizhuang Branch. The Xicheng Branch possesses 970 registered beds. The new Yizhuang Branch is planned with 1,200 beds (1,000 Pediatric beds and 200 Obstetrics & Gynecology beds). Construction commenced in 2025 and is scheduled for completion and opening in 2028.

Beijing Children's Hospital boasts a strong technical force. It is home to 12 national research platforms such as the National Center for Pediatric Cancer Surveillance , National Clinical Research Center for Respiratory Diseases. etc, 10 national key clinical specialties, 7 municipal key labs, 4 municipal research platforms and 16 municipal medical centers. The hospital has established the consultation center for rare cases and an international teleconsultation center, and maintained a national leading position in diagnosing and treating rare and critical pediatric diseases. The hospital is also undertake major children's infectious disease prevention and treatment, earthquake relief support, treatment of public health emergencies and other medical tasks assigned by supervisor departments, and is widely recognized and trusted by the public.

A total of 3386 individuals work in Beijing Children's Hospital, among them are 1032 doctors, 1378 nurses, and 486 medical technicians, 319 with senior professional titles, 392 with associate professional titles and 832 with intermediate professional titles. The only 3 academicians in domestic pediatric community, Zhu Futang, the Chinese Modern Pediatric founder, Hu Yamei, pioneer of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology in China, and Zhang Jinzhe, one of the founders of Chinese Pediatric Surgery have been working in the hospital. Other high-level talents include those who have made outstanding contributions, received special allowances from the State Council, selected by the New Century Talent of National and been granted the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars.

The Hospital is the supporting institution of School of Pediatrics, Capital Medical University and the university's Pediatrics Department, owns the National Key Discipline of Pediatrics under the Ministry of Education, boasts an outstanding national-level faculty, including 167 professors and associate professors. The Hospital undertakes multi-level teaching tasks for master's and doctor's degree candidates, long term pediatric students, nursing college students and continuous medical education recipients, the hospital is a National Standardized Residency Training Base, and it has established a postdoctoral research station, cultivating a large number of excellent pediatric professionals for society.

Beijing Children's Hospital has been giving full play to its leading position in pushing forward pediatric development. In 2013, it initiated the idea of building Beijing Children's Hospital Group (BCHG) (Later renamed as the Futang Research Center of Pediatric Development) and created a new model of "patients stay while doctor move" to better serve the patients. So far there have been 76 BCHG member hospitals, covering over 3,000 primary medical institutions across all 31 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities in China. The Hospital not only enjoys a high reputation at home, but also well regarded in the international pediatric community. It has established good relations and extensive collaborations with other pediatric institutions in countries like the United States, Russia, Canada, Italy, Australia, Sweden, Germany, France, Japan, Singapore, and the Czech Republic, and has approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology as an International Science & Technology Base of China.

Throughout its history, the Hospital adheres to the principle of "putting patients first", and promotes the spirit of its motto "Devotion, Kindness, Diligence, Harmony" to create its own moral brand. A number of outstanding individuals emerge, such as Dr. Jia Liqun, a national moral model and an "Outstanding CPC member". The Hospital has been committed to promoting public good and led the implementation of the "China Poverty Alleviation Plan on Children's Health", it has established the "Beijing Children's Health Foundation" , encouraged its outstanding staff to lend a helping hand to Xinjiang, Xizang, and hosted summer camps for young patients with diabetes, leukemia and scoliosis, delivered the great love of medical workers.
